TP-Link homecare service is a built-in service powered by TrendMicro. The customers are provided this service free of any charges for the first 3 years. All TP-Link Homecare routers provide this service. This service can be classified into three separate features, which are : Parental controls, Antivirus, and QOS. let’s learn in detail about these features.
Antivirus : the antivirus feature works as the protection of all the home network, in a sense as the home network defense system. It is not limited to only the computers, rather is inclusive of all devices connected to your network. These devices include televisions, game consoles, thermostats and even voice assistants. The antivirus feature, however does not work like a traditional antivirus which protects and cleans viruses found in a computer or tablet, but it has an in-built system with three functions: an intrusion prevention system, a device quarantine and protection against malware through a malicious content filter. These features are explained in detail as follows:
- Intrusion Prevention System: This system detects and seals any vulnerabilities in the network’s system, and protecting it from any attempts at external attacks.
- Device Quarantine: Incase a device has been compromised, this system will enable to quarantine it. It will protect the rest of the device including the network resources, applications and devices in case of an infection. It works by cutting off the communication of the device from this part of the network , while maintaining the access to the internet.
Malicious Content Filter: TrendMicro maintains a database of all infected and damaging sites and blocks them from your device, thereby preventing any infection from the malicious code.
